basically just read up on people's build threads on here. you will see the most common problems encountered and learn more from that than just asking for a general amount of knowledge. Everything you would ever want to know is here if you're willing to look through a lot of pages to find it.
Edit: Also, It would be better for you to make an introduction thread about your car and with pictures and all your questions than to just make anew thread every time you need some help.

Welcome back!
97 was a pretty good year for the 240. What are your primary areas of concern? There aren't really any "specific" things to look out for for that year car, other than general automotive things like fluid changes/leaks, etc. Did you get the car inspected (or inspect it yourself) prior to buying? If not, you'll definitely want to check all the fluids, the brakes, the plugs/wires, tires, etc.

Do what you can afford to, start off and look for small problems to diagnose. Do all the work yourself. I have done everything basic thing to a 240sx with $7 jack and carstands from a church yard sale and the 300 pc mechanics set from sears and rented and borrowed specialty tools.

Now I just got a lift in my garage and the annoying work is over, but I am glad I started at the ground up and used NICO as my guide. Now I am a goto S13 SOHC guy for a lot of people around when it comes to general 240sx stuff.

Don't wreck it trying to be a professional drifter. Starfire Koukis aren't getting any easier to find.

I think it's a lemon and you should sell it to me.
