I havnt had a chance to properly look at it yet but ive glanced with the wheel on. There seems to be plenty pad left. Anyway, the problem started about a week ago. There was a faint squeel coming from the back passenger wheel while moving (forward or reverse). The instant I would apply the brakes, the noise would stop. Since then the noise has been getting louder and now is to the point that It does it EVERY time I drive and usually does not stop with the brakes applied until the car is at a dead stop.

As I said before I havnt gotten a chance to check on it (I hope to do that today) but there seems to be plenty of pad and the rotors look to be smooth and un-scarred.

Any ideas?

ThanksTim

Check out your wheel bearings along with your brakes.

The interior brake pad has a metal tab on it. It is an idicator tab. When the interior pad get's low enough, the tab starts rubbing on the rotor warning you to get new brakes. You can't hardly see the interior rear pad when just peeking in or under your car. You gotta take the wheel off to see it. I'm naughty and use my pads until all material is gone, so I cut the tab off of new pads before installing them. You probably have some life left and could bend, break or cut the tab off, but you can't just peek, gotta pull the wheel.

seized caliper pistons can cause un-even wear (i.e. the inner pad worn out more than the outer pad). You might also wanna check your pistons to see if they need to be rebuilt.

Thanks to everyone that helped out. I finally had time to get the wheel off and check this weekend. Turns out you guys were right. The inner pad was worn. I broke the tab until I could get to the store to buy new pads.

Thanks again!

Tim
