My setup is about 4 years old. Cant remember exactly what it is but the amp is 1000 watt and the subs are 12" 500 watts a piece I believe. About a month or two ago, I thought my bass seemed to be hitting a bit softer but didnt really think much of it. Lately, ive noticed that my bass hits harder when I first start the car for about 10 minutes and then after that 10 minutes it will cut in and out as if it goes back and forth from using both subs to only using one. Is this a sign of something being blown? Ive checked for loose wiring or anything of that nature and everything seems to be pretty solid.

ThanksTim

Q1. Have you changed anything, in your setup (ie, wiring, gain settings, adding/removing components)

Q2. How hot is your amp getting?

Q3. Tell me about your charging system. Is it the OE altenator, rectifier, battery, ect..? Your altenator could be going out on you. Check your voltage before startup, after and then 10min later when your amp starts dying on you.

Nothing in my setup has been changed. Ive had this setup for a while. i used it in my 89 240 then put it in my 92 and its now been in my 97 for about a year and a half. I didnt have this problem with the 2 cars before and didnt have it with this car until around a few months ago.

Im not sure how hot the amp is getting... Im not very knowledgeable about these things. Is there some sort of way to test this or am I just feeling it to see? Upon touch, it doesnt seem to be to warm.

Yes, it is the regular charging system. Ill check the things previously posted and get back to you on that.

Also, (and I probably should have mentioned this before...sorry) I played around with the fade and balance settings before and after my subs seemed to lose power. It seems when the bass gets softer, im losing a sub. I set the speaker settings so that its all the way to the rear and to the passenger side, and the bass is still there. When I set it to the rear driver side, there is absolutely no bass at all.
