i was just looking at a 97 240 last night with 83k on itoverall great shape that im thinking of buying for $4500 -4800

the owner thought it was an SE model, but i didnt think soit is a 5spd, it does not have the power moonroof

it has the factory nissan aluminum rims, but it has 4 lug hubsi thought all the SE models had 5 lug

so if i do decide to buy this car, i want to make sure of something

i was under the impression that the SE models had the LSD from the factory , and non SE models did not. Can anyone set me straigt?

i deffinately want LSD on the rear end

i took it for a sping and did some slides in a parking lot, and it felt like it was lsd to me, but what the heck do i know..

the second question that is most important is how much less space is under the hood then the 95-96 240? i already have a 95, and am goign to be swapping in the 2jz motor starting at the end of winter or spring. i planned on using my 95, but the 97 has such low miles that i would rather drop coin on that.

Can anyone verify that the 2jz can be done in the 97 /98 models?ive seen in in the s13 and the 95-96 s14 but dont think i have on the 97-98

Thanks

Umm I'm pretty sure the 97-98s are the same as a 95-96 except for the front end. 97-98s are ugly as piss imo

With 4lugs it is highly unlikely that it is an SE. My Zenki is a base model, but a carfax report say's its an SE, its not. Also it is pretty unlikely that it has a LSD.

As for the underhood space, the only place that it is different is right above the radiator. The Kouki hood slopes down closer to the radiator, some people have difficulties with a cold air intake as a result. I doubt that toy engine extends that far forward.

Ps: Another thing to keep in mind with doing any engine swap in an OBDII car is that it will be difficult to pass emissions...if thats applicable in your area

PPS: You'll need this: ...mentioning 2JZ in the KA forum, wtf

If it is in good shape, buy it. $4500-4800 is a really decent price for a 97 with 83k regaurdless if it is an SE or not. SE is overrated anyway you can always get 5-lug hubs and a vlsd. If you think you can get the guy/lady to come down in price if it isnt an SE check the title, the vin, or run a carfax.
