So now the Q needs two coils coming from LA for my 96Q . Original owner from day one.
Another $760.00 for replacement coils for 2 . Should i buy 6 more?
So I'm thinking should i start buying parts and storing because I intend to keep this forever.

Anyone of you guys out there with parts they bought and no longer will ever need that i can use for a 96 Q get back to me.

thanks

How did you confirm that you have bad coils vs. the far more common fuel injector failures?

Had my independent service guy check it out and he diagnosed defective ignition coil on cylinder 3 and 5. $250.0 each plus 250 labor. Well after 20 years and only 16 grand in repairs , still cheap, relatively speaking. Hope 2017 is kinder, but it aint getting younger. Still my city car.

Shocked to hear coils went bad at that mileage.I had my 96Q up to 315,000 miles and never replaced one.

You should,the 96 was the most bulletproof of the 1st generation Q in my opinion.They had 6 years to learn of the weak spots in the earlier versions,and most of those were corrected by the 96 model year.Mine went to the grave with all original injectors never having been touched,all coils,original alternator,steering rack,ps pump,wheel bearings,abs,and many other parts that seemed to fail on earlier model Q.Engine and transmission operated like brand new despite neither ever having been rebuilt or opened up at all.

It is the lack of parts that have me concerned. There New OME fuel pump and regulator took awhile to find by the dealer . I realize anything will be expensive . So why the "grave" for your Q.

Rust.Both cosmetic and deadly structural frame rail rot.

Nissan does not know how to effectively protect their vehicles from rust and corrosion,never has.Every single Nissan/Infiniti product I have ever owned has eventually had serious rust/corrosion issues,all the way back to my 1st {a bought brand new 1979 280zx}
They may be rust/corrosion free in other areas of the Country that do not see road salt used during winters,but otherwise,despite how often you wash/wax/clean underside,they rust.
