Yeah, um ... I'll just add some constructive criticism to what maxnix had to say ...

There's no limit on how many words you can use when posting a question - abbreviations aren't even necessary. So far, it sounds like you have a 96 moto, and want to know if a front clip from a 91 or 92 will fit it, along with any other hot parts.

Go ahead and ask your question as if you were speaking it out loud - ALL the words you might need to communicate.

Welcome to NICO

You'll find a lot of helpful people here as well as a lot of good information.

You will have to communicate in a manner closer to the english language to get any decent responses though.

Do you mean the Mass Air Flow meter?
4x4vanfan wrote: Whats the hot parts to look4 my 96 moto.
Do you mean what parts are the most valuable to you or to sell?

If its for your car, its dependant upon what kind of problems you're having.(MAF, FPCU, TCU, and ECU are always good things to have an extra one of)

If its to sell, you're on your own. (And in the wrong section, please see : zeroforum/172 )

Ok lets see if I type slow and try to explain myself . I have a 96Q with a 92 frontclip. I didnt do the swap but now own the car. Who ever did the swap forgot the AIS ( air intake tep senser). My question is? Can I jummper the AIS with a 4500 ohm resister? Do I have to replace the senser with oem? Theres also a wire mod to my MAF (Mass Air Flow Sen) that grounds one of the pins. With the wire remove the motor wont idel. Have swaped MAF with know good unit, results no change with or without mod/wire to ground. Driveability is good I do have check eng light with both AIS and bank1 o2 trouble codes. I hope that this give some Q45 tecs more to chew on than my lack of communication skills. Thanks for any real tec advice.

Forgot to mention Id liked to try and fix (Mod) my 96 with any older/newer parts of doner cars that I have access to. Tryed to check as many of the forms for advice. My biggest pet - peve with this car is the parking brake location. Im 6'3 and my foot is always getting hung up. Has anybody tryed to cut and move the pedal up closer to the kick pannel?

I'm not aware of an air intake temp. sensor on the 92. Did the front clip include the engine, etc - from the 92? If so - but you're still running the OBDII ECU from your 1996, I would consider trying an older ECU that will ignore the temp. sensor.

From the experience with my truck... the ECU will actually check the reading from the temp sensor and compare it to some other readings... so replacing it with a resistor may not work. Cheap and easy to try though...

As far as the ground wire... a lot of Q's had bad MAF Grounds... some dealers even added the auxilary ground wire. I would just stay with it if it works.

On 90-95 Q the intake air temperature is guesstimated however OBD2 [96] requires a real sensor to accurately supplement the MAF readings..........don't substitute as it will affect driveability and fuel mileage.

The fround wire on the MAF is prpbably hte result of a bad chassis ground being supplemented [parallel] by the jumper to ground.

O2 sensors degrade with age and mileage they should be changed at least every 100,000 miles.

We once saw a 93 with a 94 front grafted on, the vin didn't match at all and a 90 Q45 pickup [el camino style]. Also a 98Q made from 3 different cars.

These are just a few I remember refusing to accept as customers.

So many awful mix and matched cars out there with horrible engine replacements all jury rigged and duct taped.

Ah, yes. The El Qamino lives.

I can't see any real use for that vehicle, since the pickup bed has the fuel tank inside. But, the vehicle might be pretty fast considering that a few hundred pounds have been removed.

A less well executed copy and painted badly.......

We have purchased 4 Q recently all for $500 or under. Haven't done a Q engine swap in over a year except in tech owned Qs...........no market for $4500 repairs.

Ok Im done laffing at that piece of Q. Looks like the same thoughts went into the hack job on the front of my 96. That brings me back to 96 (had a 77 chev wagon on a 82 wagonneer frame it was no 4x4 van but not a bad SUV. 96s those were the days. Speeking of OBD2 whats the word on reprograming my ECU? The post seen in Qs web page for mods that (96and later) there not up to speed in Ecu reprograming. Jim Wolf?? $$.

More specs on my 96 132K stock drive train. Front clip off a 92. Hackjob all the peices are there.Fenders, hood, lights bummper, rad, and condenser. My kid could have done a better alingment of the hood and fenders. Little note on the A/C hp line. 96 uses a fitting on the side of the condenser 92 has the line on the back between the rad. I swaped with 92s. Had to drill new centering hole on acumlater/dryer (96 is on back side 92 is on the front) hp line bolts up and has a good seal. Evac fill to specs AC makes the nips hard. I have to admit the fan on high is almost two much. Good job Nissan.

Still not sure how you get and maintain liability insurance when you modify a car to that extent. Just because the VIN says it's a 96 doesn't mean it actually is!

I would love to see pictures! So, is the engine a 92 or a 96? If it's a 92, I would try to match the ECU to it... that way you can buy a reprogramed one - and you can avoid buying that intake temp. sensor...

If it is like the later OBD II, ROM is on the CPU chip according to Robert. If the chip can be found, it is north of $100 by itself in quantity.

Heath thats my beater. I have more pics yet this is a Mec form. I could go on and on about what I like and dont like about this Q45. Right now Im concerned with obd2 ECU mods. As I have posted before the AIS was not replaced with the new front clip. That and a bank 1 o2 senser have the check light on. Drivability preformance MPG (16.3-20.7) are better than expected. Thanks for help so far. PS the need for speed Q45/Fj1200 beaters of most wise enophe to show respect to cream of the crop.
