hahaha figures my first post would be me asking for help...

Anyways a few months back I swapped a 96 j30 into my auto (bleh!) s14 non-abs (helluva easy swap I might add) and I noticed a whine while under throttle. At first I just ignored it because I figured a VLSD would make a bit of noise (big mistake!) After serching on here I know I need a shorter driveshaft but I was also informed that I may have bad bearing. Heres the good news, I work at a local shop so I have all the tools I could possibly need to swap out the bearing (if its indeed bad) So how exactly would I go about finding out if the bearing is shot? If it is anyone know how long it would take a newbie mechanic like me to fix?

Now onto my brakes. I replaced my pads last week and noticed that the drivers side outer pad was worn down to nothing. The passengers side was the exact opposite. Upon further investigation I noticed that the little rubber springy things (that hold the caliper to the rotor bracket) were not as springy compared to other car's I've done pads on. How exactly do I go about replacing those and what are they called (I can't really call up a parts place and tell them I need break springy things )

Looks like the SR's put on the back burner yet again. F#@$*% s14 I love it and hate it all in the same day

Those rubber boots on your brake pins need greasing. The boots come in the rear caliper seal kit from Nissan. Kinda pricey for the oem rebuild kit since it includes all the greases, seals, and c-rings for the back two calipers.

Your bearings, you're gonna end up doing an inspection for the usual stuff, like wear on the bearings, scratches, pitting, flaking, gouges and smooth rotation. If it fails any of those tests, press off old bearings, and replace the outer races and the bearings AS A SET.
