96 trashed Q

Well the great experiment ended. The pristine bodied/interior 138k 96Q a tech purchased for $1500 [poooooooooooor oil changes motor sludged up] a few months ago..........the one where the tech built a trap droor on bottom of oil pan to clean the screen WEEKLY! Went for a trade in of $4500 on a new Tundra ..........watch out what goes thru auctions.

We just couldn't fiqure out an economical way to change the unique 96 OBD2 engine and the few we found were $2,200 delivered and high mile domestic.

The other problem is when you work on them for a living they begin to look like just another problem you don't need in your life.....a 7 year old 96 lux car.

Of course Sonny has owned 10 cars in the 5 years I've known him. But a Tundra truck instead of a Q?

That is a gorgeous Q..Surely it must have been worth another engine?Or an experiment in installing a used earlier (hush hush)engine?

If I had known, I might have donated my 91 engine for an apple and a song.If anyone can figure out hjow to make a 91 fit in a 96 it would be you guys.

Kind of off topic but.....are there screens in the bottom of the oil pan? Or was that part of his custom trap door design?

The pick-up tube that extends down from the oil pump has a permanent screen inside it near the bottom. I don't think it's quite as fine as the transmission screen, and is less prone to clogging. I like the idea of the trap door though!
