96 Sentra quit now wont start

For a period of a few weeks when ever it rained good the car would act like it had water in the gas. It would have trouble starting and would stall when the gas petal was pressed too much until it ran for a few minutes then it would run fine. One day after starting the car it cut out on me after about 100 yards and haven't been able to get it started since. Replaced the spark plugs and everyone of them has a beautiful bright spark, we checked to see if fuel was flowing by disconnecting the line past the fuel filter and it was running fine(didn't check the pressure of it though), the spark plugs seem to be getting gas not sure how saturated they are supposed to get by the gas but it appears that they are getting gas, air intake is sucking air and even tryied spraying starter fluid into it while starting to see if it would fire and got nothing. Not really sure where to go from here, any suggestions? I'm gonna check to see if the timing chain broke(man I hope not) but I've got nothing else, thanks for any input.

It is possible that the chain might have jumped a tooth or two,how many miles are on the car?
