Hello,I just found about this site and registered. I was just wondering if anyone tried to convert his/her pre-97 Q45's headlight to projector. I figured that BMW 5 Series halo headlight would be pretty nice! Check out the picture I just made w/ photoshop 5 minutes ago... :)

Welcome KR!

Is that your Q? Cool photochop. So far, that's a first - Lots of plastic surgery, but I'm sure someone somewhere would do it if they could!

Glad to have you on board.

Wow that looks cool.

One of the best FAQs I've seen on real HID systems/info is at http://www.intellexual.net/hid.htm - veeerrry interesting about the actual color temp of real HID lights vs the cheapo "HID" bulbs with "higher" and Brighter colors temps being pawned off out there - stick with what the rest of what the big leagues go with ! Read under BULB SELECTION !

Also - These guys do some spot-on conversions - putting the real thing onto older Q's and them lo brow Toyoters Lexus (Lacks-Guts) - http://www.illusion-lighting.com

Thank you for all the replies! I couldn't feel at home more! :)Pictured Q is from an internet site (ebay) with a bimmer photo from BMW website merged with petty photoshop skills.. hehe :)Just for introduction... the Q is pearl-white w/ 15% black 3M film tint, which make the car look rather sporty (They recommended 3M film because it's supposed to last longer). 18 inch chrome AMG style wheel with 245/40/18 ZR series tire. also Alpine V12 amp mounted in the trunk with all 4 stock speakers replaced with Infinity Kappas. I decided not to change the head unit because stock Bose unit well matches the look of AC console above, giving unison appearance.I'm thinking of getting a Remus exhaust and either JIC suspension kit or cheaper Eibach prokits for lowered look. But foremost of all, I really wanted to have projector or at least clear headlamp because the stock casing makes the light dimmer even with current PIAA Super plasma GT light bulb.Today, I stopped by local shop to find out that one of the owner's acquintance had BMW 7 series headlamp on his 94 Q45, which sounded so tempting.By the way, I checked out two websites recommended by msscomm, and they "ROCK!" Intellexual is filled with very interesting facts about HID systems and Illusion-lighting was super great with all those retro-fitting projectors! Maybe retro-fitting is better choice since I don't have to work on heavy duty cut-and-weld body job! I really appreciate great infos from you guys and I'll post any future modifications here. Thanks guys!! :)

Could you show the back of the headlight units? Looks very stock in photos. Are the tires short? Look like 18s, but very small diameter on tires. Are they 245/45-18s?

Brian - That Q doesn't have the HL conversion - I'm guessing those pix are of kimrober's Q. The one with the Beemer lights belongs to a local acquaintance.

He says he's running 245/40/18's. Hard to tell from the pix, but they look smaller than that.

AZhitman is right! :)I had installed 235/40/18, and the wheel was protruding more than tire to the outward, which risks of damaging the wheel. I was constantly reminding myself to get 245s next time, so I made mistake of getting the wrong information to you. So sorry! again, its 235, not 245... :)I was planning to get the retro-fit conversion from Illusion Lighting, but I decided to get the HID kit only because having projector behind those opaque stock headlight won't help much.Thank you for pointing it out :)

Trying to figure this one one... it says safety and looks to me like they're lighting the door moulding yellow when you open the doors? Anyone out there that can translate this? Kind of cool. I'd pay big $$ to figure out how to get the nav system out of one of those into my 90 :)

Perhaps if you really desire, you can write to them. Oh by the way, one of local shop here do special orders parts from Japan too... but the price tag keeps me away from those body-kits.. ;)Attached is mirror image of interior of President. I would love to have interior like this in my 96 Q.. :)
