96 Q45 stalls and sometimes throws MAF sensor codes

I have a '96 Q45 and I've been getting a few engine stalls and some hesitation at various speeds. I have seen check engine light come on with MAF and knock sensor codes on it. My question is - how can I tell for sure if the MAF is really going bad ? My mechanic told me there are other things that can throw a MAF sensor code such as vacuum or oxygen sensors...etc.. Anyone run into this issue before ? Thanks very much... Val

I dont know of anything that will throw a MAF code beside the MAF... Unless its a faulty connection....

remove the MAF anf spray clean w/brake cleaner and befor plugging it back in squeeze some dielectric (sp?) gel into the plug. May solve ur problem
