Use premium gas and keep the engine tuned and you can live with one bad knock sensor. You can ohm the knock sensors to determine if they are truly kaput. You need to fix the MAF problem first.
Have you cleaned the MAF or checked and cleaned the connector? If not I'd do that first before putting out big bucks for a new MAF. Search here or go to Q45.org (Tech Help section) for step-by-step instructions for these basic maintenance items I've mentioned.
Used MAFs for a 96Q are tough to find. Captain Luigi just found one after a couple month search. If you determine you need one and can afford it, buy a new one (>$300), and then read the Captain's posts on repairing yours as a backup. Good luck.
