could someone tell me where the ecu is on a 96 q45 and what other model year ecu will work if any thanks

No other year Q will work. Has to be 96 (OBDII) ONLY!!!!!

Its located in the passenger side kick panel...

On Board Diagnosis-- Version 2 I guess...

it was an industry standard implimented in 1996..... 90-95 ECUs are very similar (but still not always interchangeable), but completely different from the 96, in about every way imagineable.....

The 96 Q are pretty rare... Good luck finding one...

D in OBD is for Diagnostics, I believe.

correct.I thought I saw a 96q being parted out on e bay this week,might be worth a look!
