i tried searching in the old posts but couldnt find anything relevant, so if anyone could help that would be awesome. Anyway, i bought a 96 q45 recently and for a few days had no problems with the factory sony cd changer in the trunk, but yesterday when i tried turning on a cd, i got the cd "err" message. Any ideas how to fix this problem? thanks

You can try resetting it by pulling the power for a few minutes - worked for people in the past.

I've owned a stereo shop for years and have never replaced my Sony CD changer. I do get the same error occasionally as well tho. All I have ever done is pull off the carpet cover around the CD changer and unplug the main harness/plug for a minute and plug it back in. It will work after that usually. First few times I did it, it only worked for a week, month, or short time. As of right now, it's been working for about 1 year. Sometimes just a hard reset by powering down will get it going again. Easy to try.

Wow, I was quoted, lol. Always weird to see yourself quoted (at least I think it was me that said that). Someone might think I know what I'm talking about. Boy do I have you all fooled.

For the record, the Cd Changer is still working after the "hard reset". Been a while now.

I have the same CD ERR problem with my 1994 Q45 and it too came back to life for several weeks after I had unhooked the battery (unrelated issue).

I thought I'd try unhooking the harness for the CD and then reconnecting it. I can see where the wires connect to the CD. Of course, it is located on the opposite side and I can't see much of anything. I can't seem to get the thing to unhook.

Am I trying to unhook the right connector? How do I get this thing to let go?

Much easier to identify and pull fuse for cd changer which is located in fusebox by your left knee.

Good suggestion. I will try that one. Thanks
