Today I changed a fuel filter and replaced a fuel line on a 3.3l 96 pathfinder. after replacing these the engine did not start. I have pressure leading to the fuel rail, ( not sure exactly how much) but I have no fuel returning to tank. wondering if there are any quick ways to resolve this issue without renting a pressure gauge.

filter is going in the correct direction. I guess I am just confused about how the pump had enough pressure to open it before I changed the filter and line. I have been trying to tap the body of the regulator to see if I can get it to open.

Swap the fuel pump relay with another one of the same color to make sure it's not the relay.

I have swapped the relays, and still have same issue. wondering if I have air in the fuel rail?

Priming the fuel pump (cycling the ignition between "ON" and "OFF") should help clear that up. Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the ignition to "ON"?

What brand & model number of fuel filter did you use? If you released fuel pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse, did you remember to reinstall the fuse?
