96 Pathfinder SE Hood Assist Bar

Hello All,

First time Post. Reason? I Just bought a new-to-me 96 4wd Pathfinder SE with 201,000 miles so I've mostly been reading all the great posts and FAQ's on the site. I look forward to learning and sharing information with you all. With that said, I can't seem to find any information on the correct resting postion of the hood assist support bar. Mine was in the back seat and the previous owner had no idea how it was supposed to be situated when not in the "upright" position in use.

Anyone have any pictures to show the newbie how this should look. Thanks in advance for you help

Welcome to NICO!

I assume you're referring to the hood prop that holds the hood up when it's open. Are you unsure of where it's supposed to secure at to the vehicle body, or just where it's supposed to rest when the hood is closed? If the latter, see the beige plastic clip in this photo:



It should clip in to that.

Thanks for the reply. Because the bar was completely detached, when I attempt to lay it down in the clip shown in the photo it does not sit o allow the hood to latch. Can you send a photo with the bar in place? Is there a plastic piece on the body that anchors the bar?
