96 nissan altima auto transmission problems

transmission goes into 1st just fine, but it does not want to shift into second until you lift off of the gas petal. i have checked the fluid level and it was a little low. I added fluid and now it shifts a little better, but it still revs really high before it will shift and even at that i still have to let out of the as to get it to shift. any ideas would be great. i really don't think i will have to get a new transmission, but that is at the point i think i am at.

I know this sounds obvious but is there a seal leaking or some other leak?

i have a 96 auto also and before the transmission skrewd up it would rev high before shifting. idk why exactly but my friend (professional mechanic) says it basically burnt and done with. now it only goes to 2nd gear.

I do know that if you overfill an auto transmission it will force it to shift it its as simple as low fluid.

you should smell the fluid on the stick to see if its being burnt if so, i believe its a major problem.

i;m no pro but this is what info i gathered from having this problem
