I bought my 96 max just over a year ago with a slight problem, the clutch was hard and had a difficult time getting into gear (particularly 1st). I had my grandpa drive it before making the purchase and we figured it could be adjusted... we bled it, no difference to speak of.

The problem is very intermittent and is usually not present before the car warms up, which has led me to believe that maybe one of the cylinders are going out? But, as far as I can tell, there's no leaking. Plus the gear sometimes has a hard time moving around even without the engine on, esp. out of 1st or into R. Is that normal? If not, this is making me think its mechanical.

Also, just in this past week or so, there's been a strange (also intermitten) revolving noise in 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd. It's pretty hard to describe so I'll try to make a video of it but this is the best I can do for now. If anyone has a CLUE as to what my prob is, please respond! Any ideas are greatly appreciated at this point... thank you!!

Could be the clutch, fluid level/condition or worse, the transmission is on the way out. Better take it to a trusted transmission shop for proper diagnostics. Ask friends/relatives for referral if you don't want to get ripped off.

Have you changed the transmission lube? Mine was hard to shift into 3rd. Someone must have been using GL-5 lubricant. I changed the lube with some Sta-lube GL-4 85w90 and it shifts much better now..
