Can this been done w/ the car on flat ground or standard ramps/jack.

I have 2 sensors I need replaced, the knock in bank 1 & the vehicle speed sensor. Being it's the holiday weekend my guy can't get into his work's garage w/ racks. But he does have a long weekend & time to do it. I want to know, can he do any of it in my driveway.

Thanks

knock sensors could be done on flat ground, but it is a very labor intensive job, especially for the first timer doing it- plan on 5-6 hours and usually many of the brittle old hoses under the plenum crack when lifting off the intake.......have replacement hoses in hand to swap,or the car will be inoperative until you source these hoses.

If I recall correctly {it has been 8 years since I did the under plenum job} there are about 30+ hoses under there that must be fiddled with in order to get to the knock sensors and the dealer sold a kit including all of them for around $600 or so {not cheap} but as I understand it,some of those hoses have been discontinued by nissan} Search the topics "knock sensor replacement" and "plenum" there is a ton of documentation on this procedure here.......again,it is a job that snowballs once removing the plenum due to the tremendous heat under there and the damage it does to old hoses being moved, twisted, and jossled while lifting the plenum.

ur going to have to cut the big rubber hose running from the water pump to remove the "T" to even get a look at the knock sensors...oem on ebay was like 8 bucks. and now would be a good time to clean your lower intake manifolds and change your coolant temp sensor which is like 6 bucks online or 30 at autozone with lifetime warranty. have you sea foamed your car lately?, I just did mines and got a huge performance gain.

first pull the fuel pump fuse from the driver's side fuel panel and depressurize the fuel lines by starting the car and letting it stall with 2-3 more cranks and cranks only, don't expect it to start again, and then use that link to remove the plenum + Throttle body, then remove the fuel rails and lower intake manifolds, then read my previous comment about cutting the hose running from the water pump and the Knock sensors will be in perfect line of sight, change the KS and do everything in reverse order, oh and you will need a syringe type thing....I think its called a turkey baster? to suck up all the antifreeze that will pool up in the valley....or you could drain the anti freeze after you depressurized the fuel lines to save yourself from the mess. removing the fuel rails and lower intake manifold should be common sense
