hey guys ive done some searching and havent really found the answers to what im looking for. i found a good priced 96 ka24de motor to replace my ka24e but was wondering what i will have to do to get the car ready for the ka24de. will the motor and trans bolt right in? i know i'll need some wiring work done but is there anywhere that sells the new wiring (is it a whole new harness or what?) as a kit? mechanic labor rates are rediculous so i'd like to do as much of the work as possible. also when i buy turbo parts will the downpipe/plumbing/manifold fit in the engine bay? like if i purchase an intercooler kit, which would i buy? the s13 or the s14 kit? thanks for the help in advance.

dont forget about them pesky power steering lines :) They are on the opposite side for all dohc vs the sohc... I wonder if I still have the set I pulled for someone else.

You may want to pull a harness for an s14. Its not too hard if you have one local in a yard. I pulled one in about 30 mins for a guy swapping a 96 into a old datsun. I havent really looked into what extra would need to be done though..

Oh and for the kit go for the s13 as its chassis not engine specific.

how hard is it to pull a wiring harness? are there steps listed online anywhere? also are the power steering lines just vacuum lines or what? in other words how hard would the be to replace

For the harness just stat at the mass airflow sensor (actually AT sensor is furthest on the harness) connector and work your way back. Then once you get to the firewall go inside and disconnect everything at the ecu (grab the ecu if needed). I pulled the internal AC fan out for room, and then pulled the harness out in one piece.

If its still there you might wat to pull the lower transmission harness as well.

The lines are needed because the ps stuff is on the other side. Its the hardlines to and from the rack / resv. They are simple enough to get (when the engine is out) and any dohc line should work. I have a set (or should still, who knows) and may post it up for sale one day, if so.
