Does anyone have any experience with this or any ideas as to what could be causing it? (It sounds like a solid thud) It only happens when I shift from park and then is fine while driving around. Could the fact that it is about 0.5" longer than the original open-diff carrier cause this?

the J30 LSD is longer because it was intended for an ABS car. If you're car isn't ABS equipped, you'll need to locate an ABS Auto driveshaft.

so the only difference in the ABS driveshaft is that it's slightly shorter than the non-ABS driveshaft?

its possible that this is the problem, but i don't know. i have a j30 in mine with the stock driveshaft(manual) and it fit just fine with room to spare.
