The HICAS if anything...would keep one from drifting. Then again, who does that anymore anyway, especially in a J30?Anyway, the T version has (slightly) higher spring / shock rates, HICAS, the wing, and the "million spoke" mesh. But in reality, the driving difference is minimal, but I admittedely prefer the T model out of principle...but would rather not have the nearly 100lbs the RWS adds.
Quote »I put mine in Neutral when going downhill or approaching a stop light.[/quote]I do that too with my 240SX. I have once seen as high as 28.5 mpg in mixed driving using such methods. I also turn off the AC up big inclines, and coast down to redlights (rather than the typical accelerate until time to brake). But even on all highway driving, I have never broken the 30 mpg barrier with it...but then again the EPA quotes 20/25, so anything over that on a 19 year old car (with original everything) is pretty good.

Errr, uhhh, the car has an LSD with a tall final drive ratio...so it is not really supposed to spin, burn tires, etc. Curious how old are you, and is this a J30 or Eclipse we are talking about?
But on the lighter side, maybe you should swap in a non-LSD from a S13 and burn the tires all day long (but please don't do in public). I would have to wonder what people would think seeing a rare, expensive (looking) luxury car with someone in it raising hell. They would surely be thinking "joy ride", or he borrowed daddy's car, lol.
Seriously though, if you simply want peppier acceleration, get the 4.10 from a Z32 (and matching speedo gear)...no need for a transmission swap. Then again, a 5 (or 6) speed in a J30 would be like an automatic in a Miata...out of character. But if you want a sports car, buy one. Nissan, Toyota, etc, can build them better than we can, and starting with a 35XX lb car tuned for softish ride, noise isolation, etc yet wanting to make a sports car out of it doesn't make any sense.
But let's face it...I am a little confused overall, as you want more fuel economy, yet want a car that will burn rubber (yet you bought a J30, far from a good choice for either purpose)?
Either way, I will quit ragging ya'for a second...let me know what color your car is, and I will see if I have access to a color matched spoiler for your car...as my local pick and pull has 4 J's. If you can find one color matched, that will easily save you $100, and will be likely to match better. But in reality, it will do no more than change the looks of the car. You might want to just save the $1XX for your sports car fund.
