96 Infiniti I30 EGR valve,Evap, purge canister check engine

I have this 96 infiniti, check engine light is on. my mechanic say to do a smog test, i am thinking of cleaning the EGR valve or replace the canister or check the solenoid valve, all i know my car is hesitating when it come to high aceleration..Does the egr valve,purge valve or canister cause your car to not acelerate when you need it, like when a truck is coming your way and need to get out there quit?

please help me,is either fixing in or getting a max
