Why would you want to swap an SR20 in? The VQ30 has proven to be a very robust engine capable of 400whp+ without the need to crack it open and upgrade engine components.

Stick with the 3.0L. The time and money spent on putting an SR20 in would be better spent on modifying the 3.0L. Hell, for less than two grand, you can even put a VQ35 in. Or for about five, you can turbo it.

yeah i havent really researched alot on the vq30 and its all still kinda new to me.. but after reading the post on them im gonna stick with it.. it sounds better to me.. it would be pretty sick to make it awd but i dont want the headaches and the money for it.. i have 175k on my car would it be fine to turbo and push like 360hp out of it. or should i look into a rebuild

If it was taken care of, a VQ30 with that many miles should be fine. My buddy's DEK went 170K and pulled very healthily. If anything, I'd change out the timing components. Even though this engine uses a chain, it's cheap insurance to replace it after so many miles. When my 96 had a non-LSD 5spd, exhaust, intake, and ecu, it ran a 14.5 @ 97mph and that was with me only having one month's practice driving stick. Other cars with similar setups have run much lower times. In fact, the fastest stock 4th gen on maxima.org ran a 14.5 (with an amazing driver, I might add) so these cars are plenty capable from the factory. The fastest all-motor 4th gen (with a 3.0L) is in the high 12s on slicks.
