'96 G20 factory remote receiver location?

where is the receiver for the factory remote (unlock, security) located? I just bought a new remote which is working, but the car is not picking up the signal. I receently got this car and it did not come with a remote, although it was equipped with one from the factory. This car was also a repo at one one time, if it may have any bearing on anything. once I find it if nothing is obviosly wrong with it how can I check where the fault lies? (my infiniti delaer could not program the remote and they would need to find out why the car is not picking up the signal) -thanks:help
