i have a 96 blacktop. 2 years ago it was running mint before i switched to using another car (geos better on gas + dont care about people denting it) basicly the nissans been sitting for a good half year, i was able to start it up drive with no issues, half year later, same thing, start up, drive, big smile. long story short yesterday after turning over to get the oil circulating, it starts up fine, idles great ect. the moment i took off the jumper cables from the battery it died. ok, bad battery its been sitting. after i start it up again and decide to give it some gas, it misses and wants to die. btw random info i forgot to mention. hot side intercooler piping has been off for a good half year. however the inlets have been covered by plastic and cheap rubberbands which broke due to weather. i figure this would not be an issue as its under the hood, and still had plastic over the inlets. its also in a parkinglot so i dont need to worry about mice ect.

OK... my questions are what should i check for? im pressed on what time i can spend on the car making this frustrating..... does this sound like it could be boost leak? possibly bad fuel filter? its been sitting for a while. how bout some new gas and injector cleaner? any other ideas or things that would be worthy of checking?

my car sat for about six months one time. and when i went to start it up again, it wouldnt go. so... i replaced the fuel filter and gas with some high octane and some cleaner\booster (to try and help wash out "dillute" the bad gas in the system) and it started up after a few cranks. and smoked a small bit but eventually burned through. so give that a shot. as for gas prices... i know its a huge pain and serious let down, but they are only gonna get higher so you may as well enjoy your love for this car before the government starts issuing rations for fuel like they did in the 70's.

well first off, the motor should run after you crank it up with no batter attached. if it died when you pulled the charger off, the alternator is probably going out. I would get that handled first, second for your cutting off and missing, check for cracks in your vacuum lines and couplers, boost leaks definitely cause this problem. Could be something else, but check that first. You can get a boost leak tester at advance or somewhere like that.

I was really lazy when putting the silicon IC couplers back on, so I'll recheck. I really think it's a boost leak/ bad gas/ dead battery.
