I just purchased this car and the previous owner didnt know what was wrong, they were told it needs a motor,
It wont crank, I took the starter out and tested it, works fine. Checked battery and such.
My question is what would cause the starter to not be able to turn the motor over?
(yes it clicks and all that, i am certain it is not the starter or battery related)
My thought is timing chain .... Any thoughts.
SECOND question, If it is a timing chain, is there some online step by step instructions to replace the motor? (where?) I have access to a new motor.
Thanks a ton!!!!!

Welcome to NICO!

It sounds like there is a loss of power somewhere if it's clicking but not turning over. Possibly ignition related? I'm not too sure.

This might be a good time to head over to the KA24DE engine (early Altimas and the American 240SX have this motor) forums to try and get a more technical gearhead to answer your question. Maybe someone else will also chime in here.
