I am a 240sx guy, but I had someone ask me if I could swap in a newer altima ka24de into their 96 altima. Can't find any material on this so I was wondering if anyone new in the Altima community. Thanks guys

yes it can be done I currently have a 2k motor in my 93 you have to swap over the 96 intake manifold as well as some minor orther stuff to make it work. check out http://www.nissanclub.com/forums about 5 other members I know of there have done it.

FYI it's the 00-01 motor that you want. The 98-99 KA is the same as what he already has. The 00-01 has 155hp, 156lb-ft, and the 93-99 has 150hp, 154lb-ft. The difference isn't anything a small amount of modding couldn't make up for. All Altima KAs are essentially the same and can be swapped in to and out of any 1st and 2nd gen. The only diffence they have that I can remember is reshaped valve covers.

the only real difference is the different manifold and sensors. its nto a hard task to switch them over. my OBDI 94 has a 95.5 OBDII engine and a 97 OBDII trans. its very easy to switch the parts over when the motors arent in the car. i did mine in my old driveway in a weekend with very little help
