Anyone that knows anything about the 1996 300zx VG30DETT's ECU and wiring harness/ 96-98 R33 GTR RB26DETT ECU and harness, I need your help. I want to find out how to give the 96-98 Skyline GTR OBDII. Everyone says the the ECU from a 96 300zx with the VG30DETT with some crazy tune on it would work but it sound a little nutz to me. I understand that the engines are similar but one is a straight six and one is a V6? I'm no electrical wiz but I'm sure the VG30DETT must have a whole mess of sensors all over the block. I havent even metioned that the VG30DETT has Nissans-VCT. Could you just not hook up the NVCT? If this was possible would you need to add a crazy amount of sencors to make it work? JK tech. is not seeming to want to give out any information out about the subject and its time this information was made public. Thoughts?

Thanks Guys,
Robert Ellis

Wow, that's a project. You'll need all the sensors that the 300zx uses for OBDII.

Who is "everyone" that says this will work? Got any links we can read through and troubleshoot? Or did you just want us to do everything for you? :poke: JFWY ;)

A "crazy tune" indeed. Don't I6 and V6 have a different firing order? Being Nissans of similar vintage I imagine they would use the same sensors.

Edit: See if this Google Cache Link works, it seems it's easy as repinning a few wires along with the R33 tune:

Edits like crazy: I6 and V6 have same firing order.

Are you doing this just for the OBD function?

It's common to swap to a Z32 ECU with a Nistune board + factory RB25 tune on a RB25 swap since the factory RB ECU likes to pull a ton of timing if it sees boost higher than the factory amount but I'm not sure if the RB26 ecus are like that.

Thanks a lot for the responses guys. Razi: Yes, I'm trying to figure out how to have a functioning OBDII system on a RB26DETT, but it seems like their are many other benefits that go along with it. Will people really not need to add that many sensors to be OBDII compliant? Corn322: The link you provided is great, Thanks!, but the text only references a RB26DE(T), does this matter at all?

Also, does any one know of a list somewhere that would show all the sensors used by the OBDII system in the 1996 300zx VG30DETT?
