I own a 96 240sx with the stock ka w/ 82k. The power steering pump is making a turbo like whine. The reservoir is filled to the proper level. I've notice that a small amount of fluid has wetted the connection where the metal line is crimped on to the big rubber hose. It must be a slow leak because the reservoir usually doesn't need fluid. Occasionally the pump or belt will squeal during slow speed turning. The pump works fine for now but I am pretty anal about my car and also would like to prevent a destroyed belt from rapping around my fan. thanks.

Hows the tension on the belt?

I checked the belt and it is fairly tight, maybe too tight but I don't have a belt tension gauge tool to give exact figgures.

About a half inch deflection. IF you go to tight you'll take out the bearing in the pump which will sound alot like a whining turbo

thanks for the help. I guess I need to go beat on a few mechanics at a certain used car dealership and shell out some of my hard earned cash for new parts.
