Hi everyone!I need your help. I just received new front pads and hardware kit from Joe.The pads came with two wear sensors. By looking at them, it appears that they clamp on the tip of the inner pad, one per side.

Is this correct?

Also, will the sensor go in the upper or lower tip of the pad?

Thank you in advance!

They poke through the holes from the back of the pads and twist-lock into place like a flashlight bulb. Just make it like the sensors in the pads you pull off the car.

Daedalus, maybe I'm a brick, but the 95 doesn't have electric/electronic sensors for the pads.

I have not taken the old pads out yet, so I can't compare.

Sorry, I must be confuesd with your explanation, because the sensors that came with the pads are two pieces of folded spring sheet metal that as I said, appear to fit in the tip of the pad.

I see no way to fit them through the hole in the pad.

Thanks again!

Are you sure you are not talking about the brake shim kit? Later 1995 G50 do not have sensors.

No, is not the shim kit. These sensors came in the same sealed box that the pads came in, from Joe. Part #41060-64U92.

My 95 was manufactured in 8/94. It could be that it's a newer revised part and they decided to add these sensors.

I'll give Joe a call on Monday and see what he has to say. Actually is not a big deal as I inspect my brakes regularly. These sensors will be an added convenience.

I'll keep you guys posted. I might try to post a picture if I get a chance.

Thanks!

That little clip is part of the shim hardware, not a sensor.

As I stated before, these "TWO" little clips came in the sealed package with the brake pads from Joe.

The hardware KIT-FR (41080-60U28) includes the following:41083-60U04 SPR-RET, Pad (4)41083-60U05 SPR-RET, Pad (4)41084-60U00 SHIM (4)41085-60U02 SHIM COVER Inner (2)41085-60U01 SHIM COVER Outer (2)41003-03P25 GREASE (2.5g) (2)

Not mention of the TWO clips (sensors) in the kit.

Even if as you said, they are part of the hardware kit, where do they fit?

Thank you for your input. I'll call Joe on Monday and I'm pretty sure that he'll have an answer for the benefit of all of us.

I just got off the phone with Joe and in fact those little clips are pad wear sensors. Joe calls them "squeal" sensors. They do "clip" to the end of the pad, as my picture shows, and will contact the rotor and "squeal" when the pads get to factory wear limit.

Now the mystery is solved!

Thanks

Mechanical vs. electronic sensors. Hmm.

Only for a last resort. By the time you hear them, you will have to turn your rotors. Especially if they face the wrong way, they will gouge the rotor. My dealer installed one corner the wrong way.
