95Q Daily, with engine cold, Won't crank first few tries, then starts slowly.

I posted this on OnLine Mechanic. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to do both.Guys, This has happened past five day- after having an alternator installed:When engine is cold, turn the key as normal and I get either no sound or a single click. The radio makes no sound, nor has any display. Turn key again and may or not get anything again. The Radio & display comes on now and as I turn the key again and hold it in ON position, the engine slowly drags to a full rev and fires just like nothing happens. Now, I drive it about and it fires up on first key after each stop during the day. But, if it sits for more than a couple hours, has some hesitation in starting up. Repeats thisw scenario every morning - night.The garage said the battery was fine when they installed the altenator and I tested it each day & find it continually reads more than 14 volts. I examined/disconnected/retighten the battery terminals. Garage put a new marine marine terminal on positive post when alt was instlled.

I doubted started because I had no starting problem before the new altenator. (Got altenator because battery started losing charge requiring low amp charge daily). After searching NICO, tomorrow I will check battery voltage with all elec on to get reading. Any other thoughts before I have starter installed? Thanks in advance.
