330,000km, I have had car since 178,000.

I have had this problem for a year and the symptoms are very predictable.

Car starts from cold fine, but after approximately 5 minutes it will "shudder" when driven or stall when changing gear or coming to a stop. The car can then be very difficult to re start. If i leave the car for say 30 mins it will restart fine (as if it has cooled past the "stalling point"). Once the car has been driven for a while, say 15 minutes, it runs as normal. The Engine consult light is not lit on dashboard and it is working. At times the revs will hunt up and down (+/- 500 rpm) before the engine stalls.

Can anyone help? Have been to local independent Nissan specialist, he suggested getting code from dealership, i understand this can be expensive and may not identify the problem.

Welcome to NICO.

That's a really strange problem you're having. There are directions on how to pull trouble codes in the how-to sticky at the top of the forum. Even though the check engine light is not on, I would still see if there are any codes stored.

Thanks for your reply.Think I have OBD2 - no LED, but a 21 pin socket. Are scantools expensive?

By the way. This is my thinking:1. Cold Start seems fine and works well for 5 mins. 2. Towards end of warm up get stalling3. When "operating temp" OK again.

Could problem be with steps that occur when fuel monitoring system runs from "open loop" to "closed loop" perhaps because of insennsitive coolant sensor?

Or other devices that "open or close" at this time. My knowledge of warm up sequencce is inadequate
