I have the chance to buy a second Q45. I have the 92 currently. I plan on buying the 95 and using the 92 for a few parts. The 95 looks a lot cleaner and has only 2 problems. The ECU and the stereo deck are missing on the 95. I have both of those from the 92. Now I also own a 92 SER and Nissan changed the SER over to OBDII in 94... Is the 95 Q45 OBDI like my 92 or OBDII. In more simpler terms will the ECU from my 92 work with the 95 Q45?

95 is OBD1. 96 was the first year of OBD2. I dont know if you can use the 92 ECU in the 95, but I think you can. I'm sure the experts will verify this.

They may be cross compatible, but ECUs are fairly cheap... I would probably get the right one - or even better, see if Robert can program your 92 with the 95 program (plus cool modifications). As Lou mentioned, both are OBDI. As far as the stereo, I think the connectors are different. You could make a cheater harness, or just buy one from a 94-96 on eBay.

I've been looking at the same Q (San Rafael?) but it's just a bit far away to pay for towing. I wish I owned a flat bed or big truck. You're getting a good deal if the engine and transmission are OK and if they're not there's a lot there in parts. Good luck.

I have a 94' radio and climate control available on the parts forum if you end up needing one.

That is the car in San Rafael. He says it runs well and he has service records.

getting a modded ECU would be nice if I had the extra cash afterward. The owner is considering a trade for my 92 SER which was bought specifically to make a turn around and get the cash needed to fix my current Q45. I just gotta drive up there.

Im hoping someone knows for sure I can plug mine in at least to test drive and or drive the car home and if it is good enough, to also smog the car for now.Ray

Yes, 90-95 ECUs will work for sure in a 95Q. The following thread will confirm.

Wes, when you get a chance could you list the ECU model numbers that will work with a 1995 Q with TCS . Is there a difference between the 1995 and the 1994 versions?
