Hey guys im noticin more and more that when i take off every now and then the car stays in first for too long and revs too high before dropping to second. I just think its an issue because the whole car heavily jolts when it changes gears. It doesnt happen in any other gear so i was wondering if anyone knew what could be the problem. Would i be able to fix it or have to take it to the mechanic?

First thing I'd do is check fluid level and quality.

Open a quart of new transmission fluid and smell it then

Check you transmission dipstick and smell the fluid

If your transmission fluid smells burned compared to the new quart youprobably need to change your pan fluid and filter

Also look at the color. If its not red like the new quartthen you probably need to change the pan fluid and filter

You might want to consider changing the torque converter fluidtoo if the pan fluid and filter change dont help
