I checked my fuses and can't find out why my car doesnt have a constant 12v anymore, I used a voltmeter and the stereo constant wire *org/grn* isn't getting voltage.

The previous owner connected a switch for the gauge cluster to come on. It went to a green wire between the engine bay relay/fuse box and the shock tower. I found out the 7.5amp fuse "Meter" was blown after replacing it my gauges worked no problem so I pulled the switch/wires that he had ran. With nothing connected to that green wire *no power to it* the gauges still work. With the key out of the car I ran a power wire from the battery to the green wire *that the switch was hooked to* and the dash lights come on but still no stereo or clock.

I figured I had blown a fuse because I had sparked the switched or constant wire *forget which* when I was messing with the wiring with another deck. For sure tho all fuses inside and out are fine. I'll just loop the switched 12v on my stereo harness to the constant and have no memory on my deck for now, I don't want to run my own constant to the stereo I'd rather fix the problem, plus that would not help with my clock working.

Lend a helping hand NICO!!!!! I don't ask a lot of questions on here because I either search or figure it out through asking friends. I'm alright with wiring but this just has me stumped. PLEASE no LOOK UP THE FSM replies because anyone with a similar issue I found was thrown that answer and I've already looked at it. I'll probably kill myself if I have to retrace that constant wire without any helpful hints.

Thx for any help you can give

Tim

My bad!!!! car has an RB20 and 5spd swap. Swap was done awhile ago and the clock and radio worked this morning

The green wire appears to be cut from the 3rd connector down on the side of the fuse box *it's solid dark green* None of the 4 female conectors on the box have anything plugged into them. So it doesn't matter if the wire isn't hooked up.

Check fuses and your fusible links in the fuse box.

Really like the 1st thing I say is all the fuses are fine and this is what I get ...no wiring Guru's out there? Whatever guess I'll just get drunk and sit and look at the FSM for hours trying to figure out where the 12v source comes from and diagnose the problem myself :tisk:

I read what you said, but 80% of the people that say "the fuses are fine" either didn't check all associated, or only checked one of the fuse blocks, and all 80% of those never check the fusible links closely, if at all.

I wanted to punch myself in the face this afternoon when I checked the fuse that was my issue, it looked fine except it was just barely blown, and it was a 7.5 fuse so it was hella dark and could barely even see it

See... glad it's an easy fix for you though! Sometimes blown fuses are so barely blown (even on the clearer colors) that it's really hard to tell. Budget fuses from places like harbor freight or other cheap no-name kits are even more prone.

I'm having the same issue in my 96 s14, no stereo and no clock. I was adding an antenna booster on my radio, but like a dummy  , unplugged it will the ignition was still on and now my stereo is dead and my clock cut off. I checked all my fuses 3 times over and they all looked fine. I'm gonna buy a pack of fuses and replace all to be absolutely sure. I hope that is the problem. Can someone tell me what a fusible linkage is and what I should be looking for?

A fusable link is a fuse.
