Hello, Ran into an issue that has caused me to need the pinout on the gauge cluster. it has an rb25det swap and i need to get it running again. Long story short i may have ran a 12v wire to one of the back of the connectors. it was a red/yellow (looks like just red) wire in the picture below, i put it to that terminal, it cut out, so i pulled it right away, then it hesitated for a second, ran for another 5 seconds, then quit on its own, and now the car wont start. it has fuel going to it. but im assuming no spark. I'm really hoping for a cluster pinout. But, ANY help will be GREATLY appreciated! im ripping my hair out trying to figure it out!!

Thanks!!

What were you trying to do by running a 12V wire to the back of a connector on the gauge harness??? I'm lost.

yes, i have checkat all of the fuses and relays also. and i had a big nasty aftermarket tachometer that i was trying to get rid of. so im assuming i accidently plugged in the 12v + for the shift light into that red/yellow terminal.

Yeah I believe I figured it out. When I put that positive wire to that connector, I must have grounded the ecu, destroying it. How much does an rb25det ecu run for these days

uh...ecu has nothing to do with that harness.
you checked ALL the fuses in the car?
sounds like a blown ign fuse to me.

I've checked ALL of the fuses and relays. Even the ECCS and ign. relays under the kick panels. The reason I believe the ecu is shorted is because that wire was coming from the ecu. And it was always a hot wire. So when I connected it to that red/yellow wire. It must have shorted out. Because I have no power at the coil, no power at the ecu. And the ECCS relay works. So, in theory, I believe the ecu got f@cked.

ecu does NOT provide power to the coils...you have a problem elsewhere, it is not the ecu but you are more than welcome to replace it.
the yellow/red wire may be the tach signal BUT there is no way of knowing for sure that it was unless you pin out the connector which is in the fsm.
if it is the tach signal then yes it is possible you have damaged the ecu but if there is no power to the coils that points to something else.

Hm well doesn't the ecu tell the coils when it is okay to fire? And I was talking about the power going to the tachometer. Sorry. And I have tried and tried and researched and couldn't fine anything on a gauge cluster pinout. I did buy a chilton manual If that's what you mean by a fsm.

And the vehicle did run and was running while I was doing the pinout. And when I connected that lead to that red pinout on the tachometer, it stalled, then ran for a few seconds, then stalled for a second, then ran for about another 8 seconds, Then it died without me turning it off.

Turns out the ecu WAS burnt out. Put the new ecu in and starts right up. But that fsm is amazing!!! Thanks!!!

glad you fixed the problem...i have no idea how you fried the ecu via that harness.
guess if you really did tag the tach input it didnt like 12v going to it!

Yeah I'm glad it was the ecu! And yeah. The tach really b**** slapped the ecu
