95 S14 5speed swap; speed sensor interchangability

IM doing the 5 speed swap on my 94 S14, the speed sensor plug for the automatic is slightly larger for the speed sensor on the 5 speed that I am putting in (95 S14 MT) and while it's snug on the AT speed sensor its a little lose on the MT speed sensor and falls off.

How important is this plug?

What exactly does it do?

Is it possible for me to swap the assembly from my automatic to the 5 speed?

I already have the automatic speed sensor out of the transmission(took it out when I removed the trans from the car) I need an answer ASAP otherwise I'm just going to switch them out and see if it works or not.A

I assume you are keeping the AT wiring harness? iirc I reused my AT speed sensor in my MT.

So a late 95 240sx AT speed sensor should work in a 96 240sx MT?cuz i been looking all over the place for a 5 spd, speed sensor and they only have the AT and i wasn't sure if this is going to fit the 5 spd

sorry for the bump, but I would like to know if there is ANY way to make another speed sensor work? I have a 95 auto one, and a 91 M/T one. Anyway without having to order the M/T sensor and waiting 2 weeks for it?

yes the A/T speed sensor works just fine, it's what I have in my car and I haven't had any issues with it, then again I never completed the wiring so I don't know if the ECU would need to see the correct speed sensor to not throw a code.
