Hey all, When we were dating my wife bought this car from Infiniti in Melbourne Florida. It is a purple '95 240 SX with an SE badge on it with a distinctive yet subtle white striping along the side. However, our car does not have white gauges, does not have alloy wheels, no spoiler, no keyless entry, and I didnt see an ABS control unit under the hood. The car does have four wheel disc brakes and the motor says dohc on it. When she bought the car the stereo intermittantly worked, the driver side seat belt was installed reversed and the driver side door latch was broken so the power door locks wouldn't work. I think the vehicle was wrecked previously for these reaons...additionally the rear amplifiers in the truck had all of the wires cut which I noticed is a modification this list recommends on the FAQ. If this was someone's car or someone knows who this is please give us the heads-up. We do not care if it was wrecked or rebadged as she has already purchased it..

Thanks a lot,Andrew George

Never heard of it..... but it's NOT an SE. All 240's from 91 and up have the 2.4 DOHC. All 95 se's had 5 lug alloy wheels, white gauges, front lip spoiler, rear sway bar..... etc. The rest of the options could be had on the base model. For example, mine is a 95 base model, with ABS, VLSD, electric door locks, electric windows, electric moon/sun roof, a/c, clarion sound system etc. But it has 4 lug steel wheels and NONE of the base models came with the white gauges, front lip spoiler, rear sway bar, or 5 lug alloys. As for all the crap wrong with it... get a carfax report and find out for sure.

I dont know what the laws in florida are but you might be able to sue that dealer if he sold you a wrecked car.In some states it's illegal to sell a car to someone that has been previously wrecked without the dealer or owner telling the buyer adn I think you have to sign a slip saying you know it was wrecked.

Thanks guys for your input... I will take the SE badging off immediately... I did a carfax on the vehicle when she purchased it and the title was clean. I have fixed the seatbelt and latch and have installed remote keyless entry, remote trunk latch, alarm and new rear pads... it needs front pads tho....do they usually wear evenly from front to rear? I figured the fronts would go twice as fast.

Do people sell their stock alloys on here often? What do they usually go for?

Thanks,Andrew

you can order refurbished factory wheels for pretty cheap (not FROM the factory, check the local wheel/tire dealer), tho if your car doesnt have them to begin with, its probably a 4 lug like mine is, the alloys are 5 lug.

Actually, the VERY early '95 SE was almost exactly the same as the base model. There is a kid down here around ATL who has a Pearl White with the SE badges. The CARFAX report and stuff does have it listed as an SE. But its 4-lug, no spoiler, no sunroof, regular gauges, and everything.

That is wrong....IT IS NOT AN SE!! all it takes for the carfax to come up with an SE, is one of the reports on it saying SE. All it takes to have an SE badge, is a trip to the parts dept at a Nissan dealer. If it has an SE badge, any garage that works on it, will report it as an SE.

I PROMISE YOU.... WITHOUT WHITE GAUGES, 5-LUG ALLOYS, FRONT LIP SPOILER, and REAR SWAY-BAR...... IT IS NOT AN SE!!!!

My car came with an owners manual with "SE" written in with black marker on the cover. The Honda dealer I bought it from said... oh yeah, that's an SE.... I showed him his error and that made negotiations much easier!!!:D

Then how do you explain the SE on the title?

Well... Nissan DOESN"T MAKE YOUR TITLE... the state does... and if the dealer or you send them information saying it is an SE.. they will print it on the title... that's how I explain it! My registration says SE... and I assume my title does too (not sure because the bank still holds it) because the Honda dealer sent the information to the state of Maine, saying it was an SE, even though I had already corrected them on this. And I assure you... IT IS NOT AN SE!!! If you don't believe me, contact Nissan and I'm sure they will clear it up... I won't argue with you about this, but there is NO doubt that I am right.

Melbourne FL. I live right around there. I've never seen that car around though. How long has it been since you bought it?

She bought it in July 2000 and now that I told her it's a fake she is so dissapointed ;-( She won't let me take the badges off as she says it gives the back end symmetry. Oh well... she paid a around 8500 for it then and it had 55K miles on it.... is that outrageous? We thought it was a good deal then...

P.S. I peeked under the hubcaps last night... four lugs... how much are the 5 lug hubs out of curiosity??

Laters,Andrew

SCC bought some hubs for their 5 lug convresion for $120 each. That was from an s13 though so I do know how much other stuff you would need to change on an s14. You might also want to look in a junk yard.

About the cut up car. Try calling the police and asking them to check the records on the car. Maybe it could have been junked or at an auction, but then they usually say those things on carfax.
