have a 95 quest, all lights come on when I turn the switch, no crank. battery is good, starter is good. disconnected ignition wire from starter and when I open the switch it has no juice. what can it? someone told me it could be the ignition switch itself or the neutral switch (have not idea where it is on this car).

try wiggling the gear shift in P and N while holding the key in the crank position. if it starts its the inhibitor switch [neutral switch]. other wise its probably your ignition switch you would need to check for power to and from the ign switch.

:ylsuper thanks for your reply, I replaced the inhibitor switch to no avail. it turned out to be a relay(green) located in the engine compartment on the right bumber, it said "ENG. CONT" on the cover. This malfunctioning relay was not letting power go to the ignition cable that goes to the starter.

:) thanks......... this is a great site.Another problem that I'm having is that it doesn't start right away, have to crank it at least twice before it starts (hot or cold). Do you think it's the fuel pump? thanks again!

probably the check valve mounted directly above the fuel pump. it has probably gone bad and allows the fuel to run back down into the tank when it sits for awhile. problem is that valve only comes with the fuel pump.

we seen alot of no starts on quest's after the vent hose campaign was done. This was because the hose was cracked which allowed air to enter tank freely in turn this made it easier for the fuel pump to draw fuel up into the lines. once the hose was replaced the system was sealed a bit tighter and the pump was not strong enough to draw the fuel up.

It might also be a bad electrical circuit in the pump we have had some of those too. If you find yourself stuck somewhere and the car wont start[ cranks over but doesnt fire up] try haveing some one crank the engine while you slam on the bottom of the fuel tank with your hand. This alot of times will jar the pump and make it draw fuel up. it must be done while the car is cranking.
