I think Infiniti dealers still use Interstate Batteries which are great batteries but like anything else will die if abused and neglected.

The security system most likely is not the problem unless the horn is defective and one of the Anti-Theft relays is malfunctioning. As the lights would also flash and the horn would sound alerting you.

Check the alternator and load test it (All electrical equipment in the car on) and check to see that it creates 12.5 volts or more at idle with a full load. This is a simple test that can be done with a multimeter or Nissan Consult (Or equivalent).

Well, great to see one of the original board members back. :mike

Wonder if you might have to trace this one. Neutral switch? Just a guess.

Does the starter even turn over when you try to start it?

Check the starter relay and replace with a known good one if available since its a easy fix.

Glad to test and share my knowledge.

No the starter does not turn over or even click, all relays fuses wires and fuseable link have been checked and tested by the shop, I have also supplied them with service manual. the battery has 600 to 620 amps under load. The shop can start the car and it will run fine UNTIL it runs out of gas or it is turned off; then it will not start again. That is way I was asking if there is a way to reset the security system. OH almost forgot; when you contact battery cables there is NO spark at all. Hope this helps

If you have a good battery and good connections at the battery the jumper cables should spark like crazy if the ends are touched together. Are both clamps connections at the battery posts secure and tight? The OEM negative clamp wears out with time and doesn't grip well. I had to slide in a piece of lead to get mine to tighten until I replaced the clamp. To verify, check continuity with a volt meter from the negative battery post (not the clamp) to the ground on the chassis. Do the same with the positive cable from the battery post to the connection at the starter. Also clean up any corrosion on the clamp or post at the battery and the connection point on the opposite end. You could also have a bad battery that's not holding a charge or a dead alternator but you'd have warning lights.

If it's a security issue (doubtful) turning the key in the trunk lock should reset it.

I have done everything you brought up and more, cup holders look nice, but would not work in a 95' Q thu, I just do not know were to go from, ................to the dealer and take out loan on my house to pay for it. I want to take this time to thank everyone this has responded; of course there has to be a fix :werd: :gotme :wtf2:

I doubt its a ignition switch but thats possible. I am still thinking battery or alternator. Or sticking relay is causing the battery to drain too fast?

The battery terminals are clean as can be, right?

Boy this forum sure is slow!

Battery and altermator are good both tested, relay was weak replaced, terminals cleaned as clean can be, plus a little deleic grease. I guess see what the shop has found out, and then to the dealer, no choice. I want to thank everyone that has given feed-back. Dont give up on me PLEASE!! :frown:

The dealer will not be able to find the issue easily and cheaply if we can't online.

When the car can not be started is the battery at least at 12.5 volts?

Can you tell us the battery voltage at different conditions?

BINGO!

Get under there and use some well placed hammer persuasion.

Interstate batteries went from Fort Worth to Mexico two years ago, along with Optima. Dekka and one other is still in US.
