What's going on guys I need to replace the gas tank in my 95 Q45 due to flash rust on the inside from the previous owner. I am wondering what is out there for alternatives because I can't find a 95 Q45 specific gas tank anywhere but the dealership and pushing nearly $600 for one in my mind is a little ridiculous. There are a few 98 Q45 at the local salvage yard but I was looking up on Edmonds and the fuel tank capacity changes after 96 so my question is is there any real difference between the two? Besides the 95 being 22.5 gallons and the 98 being 21.4 gallons ?

Thanks,
Mike

Is there any possibility of re-sealing the inside of your existing tank instead?

Re-sealing kits aren't terribly expensive (example here) - They're pretty popular among folks who restore old cars, motorcycles, etc.

I'd stick with 90-96. www.Car-part.com is a great source for finding used parts... Ditto on Skibane's suggestion of coating the inside of your tank though, assuming it's not too bad.

Google car fuel tank repair in your area. There are many places that will repair fuel tanks far cheaper than replacing. Basically they clean up the tank, pressure check to mark all leak areas and solder a metal patch over the area.

Wheeler Dealers, on the Triumph TR6 project, shows how it's done.
