After a recent 1200 mile round trip to Florida, I noticed a hum from behind the back seat. I assume this is coming from the fuel pump. Is there a way to repair the fp, or will I need to remove & replace it?

Also, how do you program the steering wheel to adjust automatically? It used to, but stopped. Also the auto seat adjust, how do you set? And the security system. Never used it but sometimes it activated and I don't know how that happens.

You must remove and replace it with a NEW fuel pump, or risk frying the FPCU, which is even more expensive. I learned that the hard way on the back of a tow truck.

Regarding the wheel, try unplugging the battery for an hour, make sure the cancel button is off, and try setting the seat position into memory. If that fails, try this reset procedure posted by Jeff Williams:"insert the key, shut the door, turn the ignition on, turn the key off, and leave it in the switch. Open th edriver's door, then close it. wait about 2 to 3 minutes, then open the door. The steering wheel and seat should then move to teh exit position."

Regarding the FP, what's the best source for a new one, and how much can I expect to spend for it? Is it an easy R&R? How much time do I have before this one craps out for good, and am I risking a more expensive repair by waiting until this weekend (or next) to replace it?

I'll give that a shot on the auto adjust stuff.

Thanks!

Call Scottsdale Infiniti, http://www.everythinginfiniti.com and tell them you heard about them on NICO. They have the lowest prices on new parts, period. Might as well order a new fuel filter too, as well as fuel injector hoses and clamps (the ones going into and out of the filter).

I dont think waiting until the weekend will make a critical difference. Just avoid long trips and avoid running at less than half a tank of gas. Generally, you shouldnt run the Q with less than a quarter tank, since the gasoline is used to cool the pump.

One or two links here on how to replace the fuel pump:http://www.q45.org/techhelp.htmlPlease read through them.

Just remember that before you start working on the fuel system, depressurize it:1. Remove gas cap2. Remove fuel pump fuse3. Crank it a few times to fully release pressure.

Have rags handy and wear crappy clothes -- you will get some fuel on you. A fire extinguisher isnt a bad idea either.

Its not too bad to do. I consider myself mechanically retarded and figured it out pretty easily.

Prior to installing a new fuel pump look down into tank the cup where the sock sits and make sure it is spotless without rust and water.

Remove and clean tank and lines will do wonders to extend new pump life.As will buying clean water/dirt free gasoline.

Theres an easier way to reset the automatic steering / chair exit/entry movement.

1. Put the key in the ignition (without turning) and press and release the door open/close switch (the one that controls the dome light to go on and off).

Thats it!! As soon as you press and release with the key in, the wheel will move instantaneously.
