After a lot of reading I am pretty sure I have a 95 Q45 Base model without active suspension. I can't find struts anywhere except infinitipartsusa at $366 each. I have ordered Tokico from about 3 places only to get an email or call later saying they were no longer available and they did not have any other strut they can supply.

Does anyone have a suggestion of where to get struts?

The only other option I have seen is buying something used from lowmileageparts at $107 each. I'd hate to go with such an iffy proposition on a used strut but my budget can't handle $366 each right now.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well Partstrain says they don't have the HU2890Ain stock but expect to get some in 4 to 6 weeks. I have to call them back around then to see.

The ebay link helped. I was able to find the HU2890A for sale by some vendors but the price was jacked up to over $1,200 for 2 struts. Funny, the rear struts are available all over the place for less than $100 each.

Kind of funny but I found on ebay 2 complete sets (all 4 wheels) of coil overs with what looks like everything I would need for around $950 a set. I have no idea rather these would be acceptable for normal street use but the set of 4 is a reasonable price compared to other things I've seen. I still rather just have the plain old struts.

Thanks and I'll keep everyone posted.

Those prices on ebay tell me they dont have them in stock, for some reason its easier to raise the price rather than relist it.

Some sellers on amazon have the 94-96 front struts for $100 a piece. I wouldn't recommend coil-overs unless you can find a set of JIC imported from Japan. I would recommend getting the top hats from Infiniti rather than aftermarket.

I ordered a pair on Amazon that said they had 3 but Amazon called me and said they only had one. This was the Tokico HU2890A. On all my searching on Amazon, once I key in the full 95, Q45, Base I end up with nothing. The HU2892 fits the back and there are plenty of those available.

This is the one I need.

I already bought the strut mounts on Amazon when I thought I had bought everything I needed. Got the KYB SM5324. I didn't really know which one to get so I went for something that appeared to be mid price range. This mount got a bad review from one person but it sounded to me like he had a bad installation.

Anyway, still looking and waiting for JC Whitney (yes they claimed to have the Tokicos in stock also) to refund to my credit card the $250 I paid them.

I think you are right about the ebay out of stock thing. I found feedback on one of the resellers that shows them selling the below listed item for $216.99 on July 20, 2012.

Yep, tried Andy's. They show them on the web as being in stock but when I called to confirm they said they did not have any and weren't sure when they would be able to get them.

As a side note, the last time I ordered some blues, the packages were shipped directly from Tokico North America. The online seller (that I can't remember) was just an internet store front for a fulfillment department at Tokico.

You cant use Z32 struts for a couple reasons:
1.) He has a 95 which means it has the larger bottom shaft/mount. You would need a 90-93 third member or drill it out.

2.) I think you would have to use the Z32 spring which is one of the worst setups for ride height.

Basically I would just wait until shipments come in from Japan, or get lucky and find some. I think the set I got for both front and rear was about $329 on ebay with free shipping; I had to pay CA tax.

Ya like I said I didn't know if the zs would work or not. They just look close in the pics.
But that sucks, there has to be something that will swap or with a little work swap. I know the rear of my 93 240sx's shocks are almost the same except they are a bit longer- so they won't have as much travel before they bottom out and not sit where they are ment to in the stroke, but they might work with a little work (cut the bottom off and somehow fasten it to the side or get a rear set of lowering coilovers that are shorter and that would maybe be the same length as the stock q45 fronts idk . + a couple other things would need to be done but if they're the same length would be worth it I think.

Nice source! Doc - please let us know if that works for you. As the Q gets older and older, it's important for us to share alternative sources for parts since the OEM ones will be out of production, or like in this case - just very expensive. I suspect Nissan sees low inventory on something they know they're not going to source anymore and makes a "supply and demand" price adjustment sometimes.

I just found their website yesterday and I think I sent them an email trying to confirm availability but I haven't heard back from them yet.

They had 2 fronts for $250. I put them in a cart and am waiting for JC Whitney to refund money back to my credit card right now before I try another purchase.

I did find one on ebay and one on Amazon. Assuming it is not the same reseller, I could try to buy those? I may just wait until some more come back into stock though.

I wouldn't try any z32 or anything that requires mods and or special spring/strut matchups as I am not doing the work myself and anything like that would require a high level of confidence in the mechanic and probably run the install cost up considerably.

I'll let you all know if tokicoperformance web site pans out.

i would buy them from Tokico directly. Even though we have not seen many fail prematurely it would make it much easier to fix if they ever do fail.
