Hey guys, like a retard i ordered my "blues" off ebay before i realized Joe had the whole set with the shields and bumpers. my question is now i am going to buy aftermarket...please don't bash me...thats not what im posting for. i simply need to know if the shield is the same front to back. In other words would a shield and bumper for the fronts fit the rears?

I have already spoke wit Luigi and have ordered the spring seats, tension rod bushies and LCA bushies all around. Mounts "look" good so not replacing those as of now. Any help from you guys would be appreciated....Thanks - James

You'd be a retard if you didn't order off eBay and paid full price per shock + shipping charges. You saved over $130.

By Dust Shields/Bumpers are you talking about JUST the shock boots?

I bought some red shock boots for a Lift Kit. It does not fit perfectly but it will work.

Why didn't Luigi tell you front and rear were different?

You could learn a lot from reading some of the previous posts.

um.....i did search and guess what i found? nothing! so thats why i started a thread. and Luigi hasnt got back to me on if there was a difference or not between the front and rear dust boots/ bumpers. as far as reading previous posts....i have read enough to know that i cant find my answer without posting a thread.

P.S. before anyone else reads this thread and starts to rant that i should only use "oem"....save your breath. This car is NOT my life, just a car that i happened to have purchased awhile back because of the price....so all in all whether oem or aftermarket, if the parts work, thats fine by me.

Might try reading the tutorial at the top of this Forum, then. Hint: Follow the eyes1

Exactly why we recommend OEM! On the long run it's cheaper! Lots of ex Q45 owners have passed through who insisted 3rd party aftermarket would suffice, then dumped their cars when the kept going downhill. We've seen it all.

You are the only one ranting.

OEM really is your best choice.

I just wanted red shock boots so I got some for a lift kit. They are way bigger than needed. They fit securely on the bottom but the top is not the correct size to fit so it just sits in place. Since its so much bigger, it still covers errythang.

I did some research and found nothing either. But I only paid $15 total ebay. A pair (2) is almost $25 at NAPA.

i dont really plan on dumping the car. if that was the case, i wouldn't even bother to replace the suspension parts, i would just let it crumble away slowly but aside from that i do appreciate all the advice you guys give and respect your knowledge of this car, but im no rich, money falling out the sky guy that can afford to buy "oem" all the time.

example: i just ordered the ball joints for the 300zx to put on the Q. yes, i do know that they are made for a much lighter car, but ive heard they work just fine. and for 50$ tops, i've got new bj's....sure beats 200+ for a new LCA.

Speaking of crumble away.....all of the body work is almost 100% done and almost ready to go to paint. it's been many very loooong nights, but it is looking good. by the way, no more DJ2 it is going to be Mahogany Brown Metallic

now back to my original question...are the rears the same as the fronts?????i am just talking about the rubber dust boot and bumper that slide over the "struts"...anyone got an answer?

well thanks for all the advice guys, you too max, you've gave me good advice before and i dont think your that big of a dueche yet lol jk - James

Front and rear are different..all 4 are about $100 total from Joe at Infiniti of scottsdale....doubt you will find correct aftermarket parts for much less, if you can find them at all.The factory dust boots include the integrated bumpstops {which are critical to have in order to prevent bending a strutrod if you bottom out a shock}

thank you Qship....i was starting to think that oem was the ONLY way to go for this...havent found nothing aftermarket for the rear...so OEM it is then.

well here is the final question, should i call Joe tomorrow because i need to order several other parts as stated in my first post, or should i just order them through the website? will i get a better deal overall calling in? or does it make a difference?

again thanks for the reply - James

I always like to call and order over the phone...sometimes they may see by the parts you are ordering, additional bits and pieces you may need to complete the job- prices should be the same either way.

thanks alot for giving me a definative answer to my question qship, as i could have ordered the parts earlier but i couldn't get an answer out of no one....so the bellows/bumpers, the spring seats, and bushings from joe sound like my best option.....i'll pray it's under 150....if not the Q sits even longer

Looking at the local Krackin auto parts store, they listed front but not rear. The thought they could order them, but I just got them from IOS. IOS did ship the wrong parts. Some were for an active, but they took them back. I got boots, bumpstops and spring seats, which was good because one of my springs had almost gone all the way thru the seat. I wish I would have got the bushings that go on the top strut mount. Mine looked ok but Goody's new bushings looked way better.

Just got off the phone with Chris at IoS, and i can tell this is a headache in the making. the guy had NO general knowledge of what i was talking about ( thank god i found part numbers for most of the parts), judging by the way the convo went, i'm assuming the wrong parts may have been ordered....maybe. and to top that off credit card got declined for address verification...he asked me if the bank had the same address i gave him, i said "YEA" it is a debit card? so now im waiting for chris to call me back and let me know what the **** is going on. I just knew this was going to be a big fiasco

UPDATE: everything cleared...180 shipped for all 4 bumper/covers, LCA bushings and washers, both front spring seats, and the 300zx seats for the balljoints....not bad, not bad at all.

Thanks for all the help to the guys that replied:)

I kept calling back and didn't place the order until Joe was on the phone.
