I sent my sony changer to sony repair $130.00 later it comes back and works for 20 minutes befor locking up, i removed my magazine (manually)and saw one of the sluid filled suspension bushings was shot, sent it back 2 wks later get it back w/ repaired suspension and some more parts replaced, put it in last night, loaded up mag befor leaving for work today.Had some Live Marley cranking cruising along hit small bump and bang locked up again. (disconnect harness let everything reset put back together and 5 minutes later same issue). Any suggestions befor i send it back to sony for the 3rd time. BTY after initial $ the unit is under warranty for 90 daysthanks in advancej

Sounds like a bad repair. I would question Sony on that one. It's funny how much you miss your changer unit it's gone .

If things don't work out I can get you a brand new Clarion unit (6 disc) for $186.00.

FYI i just spoke to the sony tech that "fixed my unit" he believes the problem is the spring suspension inside is set for horizontal mounting and this unit is mounted vertically (magazine drops in from top). thus i must send it back a third time.the end (i hope)

Sony OEM units are designed for the vertical factory mounting on OEM brackets.

Yes you can plug it right in, but you will need a new install kit, I quoted that with the price.

There is a huge sony repair center a few towns over and I dropped off my 10 CD changer there for them to fix. They did fix it but the price was so high I'd never do it again. It was 500 smackers before I could hear guns and roses again.

I ordered a new Clarion 6 disc CD changer from Joe in Arizona. He sent the installation bracket and the CD changer quickly. It's an easy install and plugs right into the factory wiring (plug in the trunk).

My 1996 Q45 didn't originally come with a CD changer. It works great. I wish I would have ordered another magazine for it though.

Anyway, I did this after being quoted $400 for a used one from a junkyard.

where in the trunk does it mount?does it include a cover for the changer like the factory install?

It is a factory unit for the Q45.

The bracket that holds the CD changer vertically, bolts right to the bottom righthand side of the trunk. The holes are even threaded for the bolts that hold the bracket to the trunk floor.

You can use the factory Bose stereo controls to use it. My Q still has the original Bose unit and it works fine so I wanted a factory CD changer so it would fit perfectly.

I guess there is a cover that you can get from Joe for some extra $$$. He didn't recommend I get it.

If your car already had the CD changer you probably already have it.

Good Luck!
