I bought a '95 pathfinder a couple of days ago, and apart from the usual exaust leak and broken antenna, everything seemed OK until I was driving at night. My dash lights didn't come on, and when I looked at my tail lights they were out too.The tail light fuse by the steering wheel is OK, and is getting current. Someone has already taken out the glovebox light. I've been looking around on the forums, and I think some shoddy wiring on an aftermarket deck may be the cause.

Now I'm looking to get the deck out and see, but I don't know exactly what I need to do. I'm sure it's easy but I don't want to break anything. Anyone know of a site with a diagram or directions?

thanks~

I took the unit out and it looks like they used harnesses to attatch it. There are some unused wires hanging around, and I don't know what they are. The only spliced wire is a ground, which was attatched to one of the screws holding the radio in. I was expecting to find a rat's nest, because the stations I had set will randomly erase, and the front set of speakers works intermittently. That's actually what I was hoping. Now the two problems (the stereo and the dash/tail lights) seem unrelated. Got any tips? thanks-

OK, in the light I can see the wires left unsed. There are 2 pairs, with different connectors on the ends. Both pairs are pink - one with a blue stripe, one with a black stripe. I'm not sure what these are for. Could they have anything to do with my problem?
