Hey everyone.

New to the forums. I bought a 95 SE 5spd a little over a year ago. I love the damn thing. And I was going to do some audio when I first bought it..and then just didnt have time, nor did I want to spend the money.

Seeing as this is a 12 year old vehicle to begin with, I still do not want to spend a lot of money, but I would like a little better then what is in it.

I bought it with a terrible pioneer h/u (and I generally like pioneer) and the rear speakers are stock, and literally decomposing, and I'm pretty the front speakers are actually aftermarket but havent pulled the grills to see what brand.

So, I am currently looking at a pioneer deh480 h/u because its decent and has a minijack in the back, so I can run my 1st gen ipod, and my newer shuffles. I know the new Sonys have minijacks in the front, but I refuse to buy Sony anymore...long story, but I think they used to be great and went to total sh*t.

Crutchfield seems to says some 6x8 speakers will fit...but I after looking at the rear, I dont see how. So, I am thinking of going with the 5x7 Alpine Type S' in the front and rear...or I'll just move the aftermarket fronts already in there to the rear, and put new alpines up front.

I can't with the fronts...but I think stock came with round speakers (6.5?) and since mine are 5x7...was the stock grill round too? or did someone actually do a clean job and attach stock looking grills on the front panel that are 5x7 rectangles?

Anyway, I guess I am just bantering....but how much of a pain is it to get the door panels off.....and is it worth swapping the tweeters front/rear too, or just disconnecting them in favor of the tweets on the new speakers?

TIA

Welcome to NICO!

im sure the pathy system is like all other nissan bose systems of the time... The front speakers are a goofy size like 4.5in round speakers... Unfortunately I do not have enough knowledge in the pathy system to help you out too much.. I woudl try posting in the audio forum, zeroforum/99

on a lot of other nissan/infiniti's it looks like a 5x7 or 6x9 by way of the grill but its only a small round speaker.

i dont think the door panel is too hard to remove. Couple of screws under the arm res,t and a screw by the latch and then it should just be clips all the way around...

The speakers are 5x7 all around in the 95 pathfinder...mine anyway.

I ended up buying 2 pair of Alpine Type S speakers and a Pioneer Premiere DEH480 deck. Got a good deal on them.

The pain in the a$$ is getting it all installed. There is no removeable connector on the door panel (SE model so electronics.) So, I just have to work around that, which is doable, but annoying. And the whoever wired up the current aftermarket H/U did a great job (sarcasm.) I am currently in there with a voltmeter trying to figure it all out so I dont screw up in the lines.

Well, the install is even more of a pain then even thought.

a) this car has had someone...or mutliple do aftermarket things in the past...and did a piss poor job of it. So, trying to figure all that out has been a nightmare.

b) one the car was put back to together. There was some whine, hiss emanating from the speakers...no amount of metering, playing with mystery cables that went to nothing...nothing fixed it. It has to be the factory amp causing the noise...which sucks.

c) sooo, I just finished running new wire to the front speakers. I am completely bypassing the amp, and it already sounds 110% better. I just need to find time to re wire the rear speakers....which is going to be interesting, because I have no clue how to take that much of the truck apart haha.
