Hey everyone.
New to the forums. I bought a 95 SE 5spd a little over a year ago. I love the damn thing. And I was going to do some audio when I first bought it..and then just didnt have time, nor did I want to spend the money.
Seeing as this is a 12 year old vehicle to begin with, I still do not want to spend a lot of money, but I would like a little better then what is in it.
I bought it with a terrible pioneer h/u (and I generally like pioneer) and the rear speakers are stock, and literally decomposing, and I'm pretty the front speakers are actually aftermarket but havent pulled the grills to see what brand.
So, I am currently looking at a pioneer deh480 h/u because its decent and has a minijack in the back, so I can run my 1st gen ipod, and my newer shuffles. I know the new Sonys have minijacks in the front, but I refuse to buy Sony anymore...long story, but I think they used to be great and went to total sh*t.
Crutchfield seems to says some 6x8 speakers will fit...but I after looking at the rear, I dont see how. So, I am thinking of going with the 5x7 Alpine Type S' in the front and rear...or I'll just move the aftermarket fronts already in there to the rear, and put new alpines up front.
I can't with the fronts...but I think stock came with round speakers (6.5?) and since mine are 5x7...was the stock grill round too? or did someone actually do a clean job and attach stock looking grills on the front panel that are 5x7 rectangles?
Anyway, I guess I am just bantering....but how much of a pain is it to get the door panels off.....and is it worth swapping the tweeters front/rear too, or just disconnecting them in favor of the tweets on the new speakers?
TIA
