I've got a 95 P/U 4WD 3L engine, manual tranny and need to replace the motor mounts. What advice do folks have on getting this done? What needs to be removed to get to the bolts?

thanks.

Short wrenches and drop wrenches are helpful...

A drop wrench like these:

You'll want to loosen both sides before fully removing one. Remove the nuts completely on the side you want to replace and loosen the other side as much as you can. Then use a floor jack and a bock of wood under the oil pan to gently lift....it should lift easily...you should be able to lift the motor enough (a couple inches) to get the old mount out and a new one in, then lower gently on the new mount. An extra set of eyes can be handy. The best way to get at the motor mounts is to go in from the side over the tire (can be handy to remove the tire to give you room to work). If the floppy inner fender stuff is still there between the fender and the frame rail, you'll need to remove that to get at everything. There's not a lot of room to work in there but it's doable.

Be VERY careful lifting on the motor. If anything is binding you can crush your oil pan. With the mounts loose, though it should lift up a couple inches easily. Watch for clearances like the exhaust and the floorboard, fan in the fan shroud, etc.

Desert Rat is totally correct. The only other thing would be to make sure the transmission mount is in good shape.
