I have a 2000 maxima remote. I was wondering if the 2000 remote will work for a 95 maxima. I got programing instructions, insert the key six times, wait for the for the flashers to come on and then put the key to acc. and hit any button on the remote. but the lights never flashed back on. Anyone know what the cut off year is for the remotes. I heard that at some point they switched frequence's.

For a 95, you should be able to use a 95-98 key fob. 99 has a different ECU so I'm not sure if that would work or not.

i didnt think it mattered as long as you matched up the FCC#'s on the back of the remote. you must manually lock the doors using the driver's door controls then the "lock" button on the remote...not just "any button."

check this out, it may help.... "I recently had to replace my remote, but I was unable to find anywhere on the Web the instructions for registering the remote unit with the car's computer. I eventually obtained the following instructions from an Infiniti Dealer and I have posted them below. 1.Get in & lock the doors2.Insert the key into the ignition 6 times within 15 seconds3.Hazard lights should flash4.Put key back into the ignition & turn to Accessory5.Press the master door lock (on drivers door arm rest) unlock/lock6.Hit the lock button on the remote7.Hazards should flash8.Pull key out and open the drivers door and then close it 9.It should be set These instructions worked perfectly for me. If you have more than one remote, I believe that you repeat step 6 for each remote before performing step 8. However, I have not tried registering more than one remote. Hello,

Just tried the instructions you gave and it did not work, thanks for the info. Where do you find the fcc number on the car to match to the remote?

they are printed on the back of the remote. if you dont already have one then you can call the dealership, get a part number and have them look at the back and read off the FCC#. thats what i did for my g/f's altima. but on my maxima i just matched the FCC#'s cause i already had a remote (mine just broke). as long as you have the correct matching numbers, those instructions should work.
